Back when Sudoku was so new that dictionaries hadn't yet chosen a proper English spelling, I authored a series of puzzle books called SuDoKu Special. Each volume opened with this "how-to" chapter, which could take a player who'd never even seen a Sudoku before and turn them into a master of the "hidden numbers."
